This year in Addis Ababa and New York, the world’s leaders committed to a development agenda for 2030 that has the World Bank playing a central role among development finance institutions. But can the World Bank meet the high expectations set for it by global leaders in 2015? As World Bank managing director and CFO, Bertrand Badré has played a key role in the 2030 agenda and is well placed to talk about the bank’s role going forward. Following Badré’s appointment in 2013, the World Bank has pursued major financial reforms aimed at expanding the institution’s financing capacity and its ability to leverage private sources of investment for development.
